Automated Cross-Sell and Upsell Management

Eliminate spreadsheets and other manual processes for managing cross-sell and upsell product recommendations. Define your recommendation strategies via a point-and-click interface, then Intelligent Cross-Sell automates the execution across catalogs as large as hundreds of thousands of products.

Targeting Interface

A Recommendation Engine with a Steering Wheel

Guide recommendations by factors such as preferred brands, popularity, price, profitability, and key selling features. Intelligent Cross-Sell provides a point-and-click, browser-based interface to target by such factors across a whole catalog, particular categories, or specific products.

Behavioral Targeting

Combine rule-based targeting with behavioral attributes, such as product popularity and "People Who Did This Also Did That."

Natural Language Example

Natural Language "Why Buy" Text

Explain the benefit of an accessory in terms of the parent product. Based on an analysis of each products' attributes, ICS can generate natural-language text like that at right automatically.

Compatibility Checking and Deep Attributes for Tech Products

For technology and consumer-electronics products, leverage CNET Channel's DataSource database of more than four million products. Target based on DataSource's deep product attributes and automatically check compatibility in difficult categories such as batteries for notebooks and ink/toner for printers.

Reports Module

Measurability and Reporting

Analyze cross-sell and upsell performance by views, clicks, carts, orders, and order value—from categories down to individual products. Intelligent Cross-Sell's optional Reports module seamlessly integrates with the targeting interface, so you can easily target, test, and tune.

Software as Service

Get fast results without IT burden. ICS is a network service, with no software to install. Plugging-into ICS only requires setting up a data exchange, so ICS knows what products the retailer sells and the retailer can receive product-recommendation data from ICS. Day-to-day use of ICS for managing cross-sells happens in a Web browser, from anywhere with an Internet connection.

Examples

ICS is built to let retailers add intelligence to how they cross-sell accessories. Example of rules that, together, create better results include:

  • Do not cross-sell items that have low inventory
  • Only cross-sell accessories priced 50% or less of the base product
  • Prioritize accessories from manufacturers in our "Gold" program
  • When the base product is by Manufacturer X, only upsell products from that same manufacturer
  • When cross-selling mice, offer three items segmented by price.
  • If an accessory is available from the base product's manufacturer, prioritize it
  • Upsell based on "People Who Saw This Also Saw That" but make sure the recommendation is priced between 15% and 25% more than the base product.
  • If the notebook computer is priced above $2,000, cross-sell a leather case
  • If the television has a DVI port, cross-sell a DVI cable
  • Only cross-sell accessories that can be fulfilled from the same warehouse as the base product
  • All else being equal, choose the most popular accessory
  • All else being equal, choose the most profitable accessory
